Statement of Authorization

Gemini Air Cargo, Inc. hereby requests a statement of authorization under 14 C.F.R. Part 212.9(a) for a long-term wet lease of DC-10-30F all-cargo aircraft to China Eastern Airlines for use in China Eastern cargo service between the United States and China.   The initial routing will be Shanghai-Anchorage-Los Angeles-Chicago-Anchorage-Shanghai twice weekly, but Gemini wishes to retain the ability to change frequency on these or other China Eastern routes between the United States and China so long as the combined total of the flights operated by China Eastern in its own behalf and the flights operated by Gemini for China Eastern does not exceed the number of frequencies that China Eastern is authorized to operate under the bilateral aviation agreement between the United States and China.

Application for a Statement of Authorization

Shanghai Airlines and China Eastern have a long-term wet lease agreement under which Shanghai Airlines operates service two times per week between Shanghai and Saipan. The service is operated with Shanghai Airlines' B767-300ER aircraft configured to carry 228 passengers.

Shanghai Airlines wet leases to China Eastern a B767-300ER aircraft (registered in China) which Shanghai Airlines operates between Shanghai and Saipan twice weekly. Flights performed under the wet lease will be marketed under China Eastern's two-letter designator code. The Applicants request that a Statement of Authorization be granted for at least one year.
