Requests an exemption from Section 41101 of the Code and from any of the Department's related Economic Regulations to the extent necessary to permit it to engage in scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between Atlanta, Georgia and Grand Bahama Island (Freeport), the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. AirTran Airways plans to start these new services on December 12, 2000. Accordingly, AirTran Airways respectfully requests expeditious grant of this application for a two-year term effective no later than October 18, 2000, so that it may make final arrangements with the Bahamian Government and commence marketing the new flights. No U.S. or foreign air carrier currently provides non-stop services between Atlanta and Grand Bahama island (Freeport).

AirTran Airways has successfully provided daily round trip flights between its hub in Atlanta and Freeport using modern B-717 aircraft. AirTran Airways' numerous on-line connections at Atlanta offer the traveling public many new choices for low-fare service to and from the Bahamas.

Hereby applies for renewal of exemption authority to engage in scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between Atlanta, Georgia, and Grand Bahama Island (Freeport), the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. AirTran Airways has successfully provided daily or 4-times weekly (adjusted seasonally) round trip flights between its hub in Atlanta and Freeport using modern B-717 aircraft and will continue with this pattern of services.
