Application for Renewal of Segment 2 of Route 378 Certificate

Northwest hereby requests renewal of Segment 2 of Northwest's Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for Route 378, authorizing Northwest to provide scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between Detroit, Michigan and Beijing, People's Republic of China. Northwest's Detroit-Beijing certificate authority was granted by Order 1996-10-44, and was last renewed by Order 2001-12-8.

Absent this renewal application, Segment 2 of Northwest Route 378 certificate would otherwise expire on December 10, 2006. This application is timely filed under 14 C.F.R. 377.10 (c), i.e. more than 180 days in advance of the certificate expiration date. Northwest requests that the subject authority be renewed for a period of at least five years.

Northwest has provided service in this market since the Department granted this certificate authority in 1996, and currently operates four times a week between Detroit and Beijing on a one-stop basis via Tokyo.
