Mexicana and SAS have been cooperating as members of the Star Alliance. The carriers desire to expand their cooperation to include code-sharing on Mexico-U. S.-Scandinavia flights. Under the carriers' code-share arrangement, the SAS code will be displayed initially on Mexicana's U.S.-Mexico transborder flights on four routes: Mexico City-Chicago, Mexico City-Newark, Leon/Monterrey-Chicago and Guadalajara-Chicago. In addition, the Mexicana code initially will be displayed on five SAS transatlantic routes: Chicago-Stockholm, Chicago-Copenhagen, Newark-Oslo, Newark-Stockholm and Newark-Copenhagen. All SAS and Mexicana code-share passengers will have a Mexico-Scandinavia routing such as Mexico City-Chicago-Stockholm. In the future, SAS/Mexicana code-sharing could be expanded between other cities in Mexico and Scandinavia, served via U.S. gateways.
