| Service List |
Hereby request a Statement of Authorization, pursuant to Part 212 of the Department's regulations to permit Northwest Airlines, Inc. to place its designator code on flights operated by Malev between Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Budapest, Hungary, pursuant to a code-sharing agreement between Malev and Northwest. The proposed code-share service will be operated on a daily basis. The Joint Applicants anticipate initiating this new code-share service on January 15, 2002 and therefore respectfully request expedited treatment of this application. The Joint Applicants further request that they be granted a statement of authorization of indefinite duration, subject to the Department's standard conditions in awarding such authority.
On November 14, 2001, Malev and Northwest entered into a codeshare agreement under which Northwest will place its NW designator code on Malev flights between Amsterdam and Budapest. A copy of the Malev-Northwest code-share agreement is attached to this Application. Because Northwest serves a number of US-Amsterdam nonstop markets and provides connecting service to many interior US points, the Malev-Northwest code-share agreement will allow Northwest to offer online service in a broad array of US -Amsterdam- Budapest markets. By this Application, Malev requests a statement of authorization to display the NW* designator code on Malev flights between Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Budapest, Hungary.
