Order 2005-12-8 - EAS at Port Alexander, AK - Requesting Proposals
|
Essential Air Service at Port Alexander, Alaska Order 2005-12-8 Issued December 14, 2005 | Served December 19, 2005 By this order, the Department is requesting proposals from carriers interested in providing essential air service at Port Alexander, Alaska, for a new two-year period, with or without subsidy. As the end of the current rate term approaches, we are here requesting proposals from carriers interested in providing service at Port Alexander, with or without subsidy, for the two-year period beginning March 1, 2007. Carriers should file their proposals within 30 days of the date of service of this order. Proposals should provide sufficient capacity to accommodate historical traffic levels. Specifically, we request proposals for two nonstop round trips a week to Sitka, with small aircraft (10 seats or less). Harris Air has provided service at the community for a number of years. In calendar year 2004. Port Alexander generated a total of 341 passengers. This represents a significant increase from 2003, when there were a total of 209 passengers. Unlike most communities in Alaska, Harris Air reports that it carries only minimal cargo, and no mail because that is transported via barge.. By: Todd Homan
