OST-2015-0104

Issued May 18, 2015 | On File at Federal Register May 26, 2015

Final Rule

As Published in Federal Register May 27, 2015

This final rule raises the maximum denied boarding compensation amounts that have been in effect since August 2011, raising the maximum DBC amounts from the current figures of $650/$1300 to $675/$1350. Also, in accordance with existing regulations, this final rule raises the minimum liability limit air carriers may impose for mishandled baggage in domestic air transportation, adjusting the minimum limit of liability from the current amount of $3400 to $3500. To account for inflation, this rule also raises the maximum civil penalties that can be assessed as a result of DOT aviation enforcement actions for violations of certain economic provisions of Title 49 of the US Code from $2500 to $2750.
